A fun, free, and Bulky cabled hat pattern you are sure to love!

What could be more fun than an entire hat of cables? This cabled free hat knitting pattern is for anyone that loves cables, or wants to give them a try.

May 3, 2021

Lately I have been on a bit of a cable kick. There isn’t much that I have been knitting that doesn’t somehow involve cables. Why do I love cables so much? Because they are relatively easy, create amazing texture, and look good no matter if you have a couple small cables or a bunch of all over cables (such as the Jerome Hat).

The Jerome Hat was designed to be a quick knit that works with any color of yarn. But keep in mind that cables want to pop, so choose a lighter colored yarn so that they can really show. But if you want a subtle hat that is full of texture without being obvious, a darker yarn would work beautifully as well. Honestly, you can’t go wrong when choosing colors for this hat.

This cabled hat is a quick knit and should come off your needles fairly quickly.

I named this hat after the city of Jerome, Arizona because that is where I was when I finished knitting the hat. Jerome is a fascinating place to explore that used to be a ghost town. If you already love Sedona or have never been and are thinking it might be a great place to visit, check out my blog here that tells you all the things I recommend you do while visiting this beautiful part of the Southwest.

In the meantime, enjoy the free Jerome Hat knitting pattern below. And if you love it, please share this link with friends and help spread the love!

JEROME Hat Pattern

Located in the Black Hills of Yavapai County in Arizona, the town of Jerome has a tragic past, but is now a bustling tourist town that is well worth a visit. This historic copper mining town was home to a large population of miners in the late 19th century. Devastated over and over again by fires, the town has been built, re-built, and re-built again over the last 200 years. The entire town is built on a hill over 5,000 feet above sea level and sinks down the mountainside 1 inch every year.

Notes
Pattern is a multiple of 12. You can make your hat larger or smaller by adding or subtracting multiples of 12. You will need more yarn if you make your hat larger.

When you get to the decrease section and the stitches begin to become tight around your needle, switch to your preferred method of working in the round – DPNs, two circular needles, or magic loop.
